It was never just coffee.
Tao Coffee was founded by Jan, a barista and coffee enthusiast based in Prague. After studying medicine for two years in the Czech Republic, Jan moved to Denmark to work as a barista, where he became deeply interested in the Scandinavian approach to specialty coffee and the craft of roasting.
After returning to Prague, he continued working as a barista while exploring the idea of starting his own roastery. Tao grew from this interest — with a focus on light roast coffees, clean processing methods and carefully selected beans that speak for themselves.
“Lots of people ask me how I can be so invested in it, since all I do is just coffee. They don’t understand.”
For Jan, coffee is much more than what ends up in the cup. It is about understanding where it comes from, how it is processed and roasted, and how all these details shape the final experience.
